The death of Dresden - Allies’ plan for Dresden firestorm.

Massive destruction designed to weaken German morale.

An estimated 200,000 innocent civilians suffocated to    death in 5 hours. The scale of casualties was so enormous that burning    the victims was the only way to prevent disease. The deliberate  targeting of civilians, mostly refugees, and the subsequent cover up by the British and American governments, is the subject of much   controversy 60 years later.
